Not sure how many seats there are, and living there would be interesting, and very sleepless, I't extreamly creepy, old victorian creepy, but still very cool and beautiful. theres actually been reports where folks would be walking by at night and they would see someone walking by the windows, yet no one is in the building.
here's the web site for it by the way-
http://www.mabeltainter.com
anyway, I have more audrey construction. I was planning on taking the day off from it, but that didn't happen, I started work on the third puppet, the one that is second to the #4 audrey plant that eats folk, this third one only eats arms and legs and such.
anyway, I used the same plastic tubing as on the #4 audrey and drilled holes and wired all the peices together, then duct taped over the wire. took about 4 hours.
then I stopped for, well it was time for bed.
what you see in the pic is the inner top and bottom of the mouth, like the hard board piece you would use in a regular puppet. next I'm planning in adding foam sheeting that will be stuffed with cotton, basically the same thing I did with #2 audrey.

It is a beautiful castle I really love the historic look.....and to be allowed to do a show in it would be amazing.
Thanks for taking the time to show us this eye candy of a theater.

o.k today was more of a thinking day, I decided to get ride of the frame for puppet #4, and just have it on the ground which is more traditional. and the actors where praticing today, so I was getting distracted by the three beautiful doo woop girls shaking there hips, which makes it basically impossible to do anything with the puppet. but all in all I have a pic, of #4.

I think we are all addicted to that kinda soap opera, the best ones always have puppets in them.
Great work, continue to keep us in the loop!

I started work on the #1 Audrey plant and also have new ideas about #4, first off #4 was just going to be stationary, with the top mouth the only thing opening, then I got some inspriration from this puppet the guild had that had side hinges, so basically I would put a bar 3/4 the way back on the pod and that would be the point where it would bend when opening while the top back would slide over the bottom when openning, and if that made no sense , relax I'll have pics soon. but anyway, I'm going to attempt to have the whole of #4 balanced on one metal bar kinda like a tripod, with support for the front. that way the whole thing can turn side to side, anyway, well shall see how it works later.
Audrey #1 I started this thing yesterday morning and have everything done except the paint, and it also needs fishing line strung through it, to make the leaves bend down during the play.
here are the pics it's made out of foam sheeting and hard binders board and hot glue, and a plant pot.

I really appreciate you posting pictures as well as giving directions in this building process. I'm sure this will be very helpful for those that want to build a audrey in the future.
Keep up the good work, and may I mention that your hard work shows in the finished product.

I can only imagine the magnetude of such a project. I am now a big fan of your work. I remember when i was in art school and i wanted to do a project, i never did anything big enough to well portray my ideas. I guess i was afraid of doing anything bigger than what could fit in the dumpster (i always had that idea in mind). When i see projects like yours, i can only be in complete awww over how big it will be and how powerful your performance will be as well.
Keep up the good work, i cant wait to see it all done. I am hoping that in the end, you will share pictures and maybe videos of the performance as well.

the puppets are very cool and such but at this point I just want to finish them so I can get back to writing and cartooning. you got ta remember I'm not a puppeteer/maker my passion is writing and cartooning, I just happen to be good at figuring things out I get it from my dad.
I went into this project thinking It wouldn't be very difficult I had two month to do it, but then I lost a month for the money got tied up and yikes!! now it was difficult, all in all if I had to do the big one over I would do it very diffrently, first off I would get my self a welder and make the bottom half of the pod out of metal that way I could put in a central pivit so you could have the whole thing move side to side, the hardest part of the big one is that it has to hold alot of weight so welding it would be more ideal.
all in all I would say don;t be affraid to do a big project like this, for it will make you a better puppet maker, and thats something you will have for the rest of your life. it will be a headache, but you do have folks on here that can help with problems, so go at it. go to the nearest theater and offer your services.
as for me this will be my last play, unless of coarse they want me to write one for them.
