I hear what you guys are saying.  I'm torn, really.  There are things I like about both of them.  I guess I'm going to have to choose or literally go back to the drawing board.

In regards to it being a family shield.  If you know where to look you can find the Clayburn family shield in various artistic rendering on coats of arms dating back several hundred years.  One is even incorporated into the insignia on a US coast guard cutter (there's an interesting story behind that)  There are personal reasons whay I would choose this shield.

But I have to admit that there is no connection to puppetry.  And as one person noted since my name is not indicated in the name "Bashful Puppet" there is no connection.  I've even considered redesigning the shield to have something else on it ...

Just had an idea ... have to get back with you.

Bear with me some things are conceived in a momentary inspiration and others come to life in a creative, evolution.

Sometimes it is better to let go of an idea.....and as you said....others come to life in a creative, evolution.  Something just might pop up when you least expect it.  I am changing some of my logo stuff soon I don't like how my name's font looks and I need to change it accordingly.

It looks like you have an idea happening near the end of your last post.

I was wondering how long it would take you to get to that.... let's see if it was the same thing I thought of. I almost posted my suggestion earlier this morning but now I want to see if we are indeed on the same wave length. Wink

Shawn I see that mischevious twinkle in your eyes.  Really, everybody take a look at his picture.  You can see him laughing at me.

Any way, I'm not sure we have the same idea but I spent  a few hours working out this attempt.  And I think I like it.

Bashful Puppet New2

Got the idea when I remembered William Claibournes coat of arms.  (He was responsible for first settling the area we now call Virginia.  And started the Claibourne rebellion in the same territory.)  His coat of arms was divided in to quadrants and he put his family crest in two corners and his wifes in the others.  I figured I could adapt it to suit my purposes.  I think it came out well.

The only question is.  Is it too busy?  Let me know.

That might just work!  I like the quadrant version of the shield.  The shield is more distinctly shield-like in it's shape than your original puppet logo and translates better as a shield as well.

Maybe I'm thick but which design are you waiting to see?  Last evening I posted the new variation.

Jon,

Are minds where close. Smiley  I do like this although I had not thought of the four quadrants. I had actually thought that the "new" puppet could hold the shield and that the name Bashfull Puppet could be added to the top band in the crest.

I had also thought that for the puppet you could actually use a drawing of one of your current puppets you had made.  With the new four quadrants this could be extended and you could put two other puppets in the shield thus "adding" your puppets to your family.

I love collaboration. While some artist work best on their own I have always done much better in a group of people who are working together to build a vision. I get so psyched by the process.
