Hey Gang,

I have always enjoyed the talent that is marionette puppetry...I think it started back one time while i was at the beach and this guy was walking around with a string t-rex.  It was totally awesome and so completely life like. So I got into doing little string paper puppets out of my origami...it was a neat little magic trick. I use to have a video of one  up on youtube for a little while.  Well this weekend I had some time to kill and decided to build a larger version...So I made a little video of the project that I was working on.  Please keep in mind that I have not ever worked with a large scale marionette before...So, let me know what you think and I hope you enjoy the vid!!!

Sincerely,

Spoon

Spoon excellent example of how easy it to make any thing into a puppet. I was expecting your table cloth to jump off the table as a dancing partner lol.
Great job! Thanks for sharing........... this should inspire others to try new things.

Great job! I love the music you chose and the foot tapping. Gives me the urge to try something new.

I like the cloth idea and keeping it simple....it was a great first attempt to try things out and see how it goes.

Thanks for sharing....

Very nice! Smiley I am sure you well have hours of entertainment with your new friend.  I think this is one of the best types of marionettes to start with. it really let's you get a feel for how the strings and balance of a marionette works.  The more you play with him the more you'll discover what he can do.  Keep up the great work!

Hey Gang,

Thanks for all your nice comments...I'm glad you liked him...When I get better I hope to do a better video. I did enjoy working him!

I like your maghony IKEA sidetable and puce green refrigerator.

First Smiley , the IKEA sidetable is actually a stool for my kids...(I don't do IKEA, LOL!) and the refrigerator is black and silver. However the yellow kitchen lights do give it a greenish look!

Anyway, thanks again...I hope to have more videos soon!!!!

Sincerely,

Spoon

Yes,

I have twin girls and a boy...and yes they do love the puppets. Of course each one has their favorite but they did enjoy the marionette. Smiley

I love that simple style of marionette.  My son has made one in that style and I have thought "Thant is something I may be able to do!" But I never do it!  With your inspiration I just may try.  THANKS for sharing - it was very fun to see!

My kids are big on little monster hand puppets.  They are simple -- like a mitten with two thumbs.  My 6 and 10 year old can sew their own with mom's help and then I glue eyes on.  Of all the fancy puppets I make, it's these little monsters that get dragged to the car to the grocery store or to bed every night.

Maybe your alien would make for a fun Halloween show and dance for the kids.

Actually we are doing a little shop of horrors theme for halloween...I'm going to build an audrey II and we are going to dress up the outside of the house with attacking plants...anyway that's the idea will see how it comes out!
