Hey everyone I am trying something which has been on my mind for a bit and decided to jump in and do it with little planning....not my way usually but if I don't for this it will never happen.  My idea is to stream live from my studio for others (as yourselves) to come and discuss any thing to do with making puppets or resources.  I am basically leaving it open to what is asked by YOU the viewers at that time....I may be making a puppet at the time or diddling around with stuff.  This is really a vehicle that will be run by the community not really by me I am just providing a means to gather people together.  As I said that I have not done this before and hope that this may bring us together one night a week to give more visuals and hands on tutorials.  I am hoping that others who are talented in other areas of puppetry to join us and I can make you live with video to demonstrate your stuff and support this community.

So all you need to do is go to this link http://www.blogtv.com/people/StiqpuppetsLive  This is my site page where the live video will happen.  You need to sign up (yes again) and then it will email you about 15 minutes before the start of the live broadcast.  I have set it up for this Thursday night at 6PM.  I am planning to give it 2 hours (I think that I am pacific time (Seattle, California time)) in the beginning and see how many show up and when.  I would hope that you add yourself to the Subscribe section on my StiqpuppetsLive site so you are reminded when we go live.  You do not need a camera....but having one will add to the fun if you do.....you can type away any questions or comments that you may have and we will respond right away through the video....we can even add links right away if that is an option. You can request to go live within my screen and explain what your puppet problems are with video and hopefully we can come to a solution.  Or you can just sit and watch and listen and say nothing.  But you must sign up to be able to view and participate in the broadcast.

We will see how things go and see if there is enough interest in this idea to see if it becomes a weekly event.  Times may change due to a majority of conflict.  This is not to take away from Puppets and Stuff or any other site, it's to add something different and more of a hands on and interactive.

So what are you waiting for.....sign up now because the first one will be held this Thursday (April 16th)@ 6PM.  See what you could be missing?

This is great Daryl. Thank You for working this in to your already busy schedule. I look forward to seeing you at work. I want to see that work shop up close. I think for your first segment you should give a tour of the place. Good Luck ! I'm all signed up and I'll see you there.

Thanks everyone I can't wait to see you all out and get to know you a little better..... Smiley

Update:  I have changed it above now but I wanted to update some of you that have sign up already....when I said that you needed to become my friend to get notices about when stuff is happening with the live broadcast....actually you need to "Subscribe" so that you get these massages....Being a friend would also be great if you choose....but you need to subscribe to get updates on any changes to the live show.

@Miguel from NY you would be three hours ahead.....so that means it would start at 9PM your time.

I don't understand why it isn't working for you.....is it because there is a spot on the sign up sheet that you need to fill in and you are over looking it?  I found this site really easy to use so that is why I choose it over many others......it pretty much runs itself.  Let us know more details what it says or does and we will brainstorm to help you. shhh

@Billy, Chris, Na, Steve thanks for the support.  wave

If any one has any problems please let us know here and we will try to help you solve it. Wink

Okay, I'm all signed up, but there's no guarantee that I'll be able to tune in (infant child = time absorbent). Like Billy, I'd appreciate a tour of your studio. I like seeing how others work, plus I'm renovating the garage into a giant workspace so I could use some ideas!

By the way, if I miss the broadcast, is it recorded for posterity? Can I see the video later on somewhere?

Daryl,

Excellent idea!  I think this will enhance our Puppets and Stuff community and not take away from it.  At one time we tried getting this going on Stickam and it did work for a bit but then we drifted away from it.  I need to try and get back to the Stickam account and do this again.  I think it would help if a couple of us took up the Banner and hosted these from time to time.  By doing that when one of us gets busy the others well take up the slack it would also help with time slots.  For example if someone in say "Austraila" would do this we would have a time slot for those who lived in another timezone that might be more convenient.

Again great idea and thanks for jumping in on this.  I won't be able to make this first one since I'll be working a show but will try for following ones.

CanuckAmok I was thinking of filming parts that will be a tutorial for others to refer to later.....I am able to embed those into this site or youtube right away as well however due to limit time, I will need to limit what I record.  But I will see how things go I am on the learning curve of the potential of this TVBlog site.

As I said I am fumbling through this for the first few times and will not be offended for any feedback or suggestions as we go.....I am not pertending to be an expert just trying to provide a differnt service to the puppetry community and see the response.

Thanks Shawn for the support.....I'm sorry to hear that you can't make it for the first night.....I like your suggestion for sure about having other hosts....my understanding I can do that on my site right on the spot and switch people in/out.....so I can just take a back seat.  I am hoping that I can make that person larger when they are demonsrating so that I become small and they are in the bigger screen.  I really want this to be the viewers blog and I just provide a place to bring us together.

BTW Please invite anyone you know who could benefit or contribute to our TVBlog.....it isn't necessarily limited to this site.

Thanks again.....

I am trying out the embed feature of Blog TV here.  Unfortunately you can't simply copy and past what they provide but you can use the src of their embed inside of a flash tag.
Example:
[flash=330,330]http://www.blogtv.com/livesdk/Y2RwbuVuaeRubmPxZP[/flash]
<a href="http://www.blogtv.com/livesdk/Y2RwbuVuaeRubmPxZP" target="_blank">http://www.blogtv.com/livesdk/Y2RwbuVuaeRubmPxZP</a>
If someone visits this post while you are broadcasting then it should show up above. Smiley

If you scroll down on the stiqpuppetslive page you will see a count down clock until it is live. This will help with figuring out the time.

@ Shawn thanks for embedding the screen.  I hope though that people come to the actual site so they can interact with us.....it makes it more interesting.
