Lol, Shawn! Smiley It wasn't really 'off topic' just a little extreme. I was just thinking out loud what I could use a puppet this size for at my church, actually one of my son's suggested that we use him for a bad character instead, and he came up with a 'demonic principality', since they're always portrayed as being massive hulking creatures. Has no one read any Frank Peretti?
Ok, can somebody help me out here? I thought it was funny anyway! Smiley

Well I did kind of get it although I have not read Frank Peretti, but I guess I was trying to make it into more. Smiley  I've been stuck in front of the computer this past week trying to work some things out and just wanted to make sure I had not missed a world take over or something.

Thanks LJ  Wink

Just a quick update everyone, the shows were really great! If you want to see pictures you can go to our website www.puppetscan.com and click on 'recent work'. We have to do these shows again at our church soon so I will post photos here from that event, since we don't have any photos for the first skit.

We have another booking for easter saturday coming up at a local mall, they are having an Easter Carnival which should be fun, our puppets get to storytell and interact with the children... and sing a song at the end too. Looking forward to it.

@ Shawn, remember I was asking about using 'biscuits' for the armrod set up, well I found these at etsy, they are $8.70 per 100 and 1.5ins wide. I came up with an idea of how to make the rods removeable, with the limited resources that I have here on the island.... I'm gonna 'sandwich' a small length of clear plastic tubing between 2 biscuits, and then when I've glued it in place in the hand and sewn up the opening (so maybe a 1/4 ins of the clear tubing shows on the outside) , I can then insert the dowelling into it, the size I have fits pretty snug and almost sticks in place, so it takes a lot to remove it, which is good. I hope this idea works. Also, if the dowelling breaks I can just replace them without taking apart the puppet hand. Great for travelling too... armrods permanently attached to puppets can be tricky to accommodate in boxes.

Great idea Rosie on the arm rods.  I think it well work.  In fact I am not sure you need to use two biscuits glued together. Just glue your plastic tube to the one disk. If you are worried it is not going to stick glue a piece of fabric like felt over the top of the tube that is cut the size of the biscuit.  In fact I would do that anyway for reinforcement.

Hey, Shawn, yes, you're probably right about using just one and the fabric too. I just ordered 200 so that should last me quite a while. Smiley

your puppet came out amazingly!

Also...I didn't read everything but you said something about blowing up a .pdf file for your puppet.
I print out the pattern and then eyeball to make it as big as I want to. Also you could go to your local print shop (kinkos, office depo, staples) and have them print it out at whatever size you want. I had a friend that printed a puppet pattern at 700% and it was only $9.00

also...you are beautiful Smiley

Yes, LJ, Vitaman is huge, I was behind there helping to hold one of his arms.
@somethingradical... what I actually end up doing when I use a pattern on my comp now, is just draw it straight off the screen at whatever size I choose, saves on printer ink too.... and  Embarrassed thanks!

Mr Peretti does a wonderful job of telling stories that make you think. They are works of fiction but there is a lot of truth found in all his books. We heard him speak a few years back and he is a very good speaker as well! His books draw you in and like I said before, make you think about what is going on "behind the scenes".

Botham & LJ, I think FP is an amazing writer, I and my sons have read most of his work. I've reread This Present Darkness and Piercing the Darkness, really great books.

For anyone interested, I had a busy week last week, three puppet shows = loads and loads of fun and growth!
We were at Harrison's Cave, awesome place and Sheraton Mall. Here's a few pictures...
