For my own future reference can anyone tell me the proper way to insert/attatch those thin and fuzzy ostrich feathers to a puppet? im talking about makeing them stick under the fleece and foam layer to make it look more like hair is actually coming from within and not glued and messed around with on the fleece

Darly "stiqpuppets" did a tutorial of this on blogTV.  His tutorials are GREAT!  They are all recorded and you can view them there.  You don't have to be a member to view them.

As a rule feathers are attached the way that Daryl did in his BlogTv session.  There have been a couple occasions when I have wanted to do what you are talking about but normally it was for just a few feathers and not a full head of hair.  You can pierce the fabric and foam with a small awl or ice pick.  Then use a small amount of glue on the end of the quill and push it into the hole that you made.  At times I've used glue gun but when I have available dry time I use something like Tacky or FabriTac to glue them in.

Could you use a upholstery needle to thread the feather thur the eye of the needle and insert it into the fabric securing it with glue Huh??

is an upholstery needle hollow? I think ill try to make holes where i want the feathers with a needle and insert it with epoxy, something that isnt runny..... when i do this step it will be after the foam and fleece are sewn, glued, ect into place

Not sure that an upholstery needle would work.

What about Vampire wombats invention for punching hair, snap the eye of the upholstery or largish needle and fix a handle to the point (cork or polymer clay) and use the "fork to punch it in with glue already attached. The foam grips the hair/ feather with your helping pinch and the needle comes out. Of course it would be best to open the weave of the fabric with an awl, ice pick or upholstery needle first anyway!
