« on: April 12, 2011, 06:45:01 pm »

: ) Hi ya'll.
As my first puppet project, i've decided on baby griffins!
They're gonna be the cable puppets that you see at the ren faires.
I've got my own unique spin on them, and I think that they are UBER cute!! So here is where i'm going to list my progress and failures on this and beg for all of your wonderful guidance XD.
Here's the link to the concept art for them! Tell me what you think!

btw, the one i'm going to be making first is the crow griffin, which I have oddly adapted the name 'Corona' for...

They're all very cute! I can't wait to see the finished puppets!

PS. If you haven't already, try searching the forums for discussions on shoulder puppets. There have been a few in the past and may be helpful.

: ) Thanks!! I've already got a few bookmarked, and i'm deviantart friends with one of them (who referred me to this site!) I'm working on the ball and socket joint right now and sculpting the beaks ^^ I've got a bunch of crazy ideas I want to try with this. I'll post more ideas and detail about those though once I've gotten a little further.

Can't wait to see the finished product. Perhaps you can document and share the build with us. I found these topics.

^^ I plan on it! Once I have something to show...
Which should hopefully be sometime tomorrow night.
I'm making the ball and socket joint right now.
So once I do that, and attach the beak, I'll snap some snazzy pictures for ya'll to analyze!

And thanks for the links!!!

I just clicked on your user account over at Deviant and looked at your other stuff after looking at your linked drawing above. Smiley Actually I like your other sculpts also. Very unique. I love the blending of human and animal characteristics. There is a word for that... antro...? something I think. Tried to use Google to find the word I was looking for but to no avail. Smiley  Really nice work!

Gosh am i dumb lol
I forgot that I linked ya'll to my D.A.
Didn't think you'd go through everything else
I've glazed my sculptures and made more since then.
I need to upload new pics...
And yeah.
They're kind of anthro.
I wanted to portray human emotions through animalistic characters and their motions.
It was a lot of fun.

Yep that is the word Billy! Thanks for finding it... I figured you would come to my rescue!

You did a great job with them Sugarplumtoaster... can't wait to see them glazed and more of them.

I'm just waiting for the Bat to come out of the kiln.
It's pretty exciting!!!
At 18, i'd like to think that i've amounted to some skill in some art field.
I'm just trying to get my hand into as many interesting art mediums as i can.

Okay okay okay!
I just realized that, while documenting some of my progress, I haven't posted ANY of it here!!!
I'll get right on that! like now!
And i rented a small flip video camera, so I can take a short video of how it's working so far Smiley

The bat is my fav as well. Nice coil pot. I throw so I know what a pain coiling is. That bat would make an awesome puppet character!
