The eyes are amber colored glass beads. They do fine in the oven. Fimo bakes at a relatively low temperature, so I have never had breakage issues in any of my artwork with them. Here are some photos of the body, and the head painted, with the body assembled. I still have to paint over the epoxy sculpt I used to hide the wire and attach the wings. I made the wings from feathers my father in law had left over from his days of making fishing lures. The main body is toilet paper tubes I cut, covered in paper mache and then coated lightly with Fimo and sculpted details into. I used a razor to get the feathering detail on the body. I still have to run the wires thru and stabilize the head as well as attach feathers and other fine details...  It is still not done. And Sorry for the poor image quality... My digital camera is still on the fritz and I am relying on my phone for the moment...

Maybe if you took some kind of fishingline etc. to a counterweight (maybe lead like they use for fishinglines, but it should be quite a bit of it- it has to keep those wings up) and connected a second line to the outside, bringing both outer lines together into one and attaching a marblesized bead to it: then you could pull the bead (string) and the wings would flap. Experiment a little with the lever laws. I hope I am making sense (I'm not quite sure if my English is awake yet )?
(Well, I live next to a river, so we have lots of fishing shops around...  )

I guess, if it is spected to lay on your shoulder, the wings should be in a resting position in order to give realism. (like a parrot on its pirate)

Regarding movement for the wings, perhaps a simple axis in the skin of the body,and the wing counterbalanced with a lead inside the body could give quite realistic effect; every time you change the position of your body, the wing would move, as if the gryphon tried to re-equilibrate on your shoulder

Thank you everyone! I really appreciate the feedback! I will work on getting a mechanism for the wings to flap on the next one. And I do plan on making many. Once I get the technique perfected, I will be making them to order and they will be custom. :P
