I thought this was the real thing... I did not realize it was a mock up!?  Smiley

We wrapped another location this weekend after spending Saturday night and into Sunday morning on the set of Greasy Fred's French Bistro and Bait Shoppe.  We started set-up at midnight Saturday and wrapped at 11 am Sunday.  It was a long, exhausting night of silly voices, sore shoulders, lots of coffee and Red Bull, and plenty of laughter.  The space was great - an old hydro station turned into an independent theatre and art space.  They came to our rescue and loaned it to us for next to nothing after our original location backed out at the last minute.  So... thanks to the fine folks at The Staircase Theatre in Hamilton Ontario.  They rock!

That first picture looks like you both where pretty laid back and relaxed. Smiley  Looks like a fun location. You should talk to someone about kraft services though... looks a little slim in that second shot. Smiley

Heh.  We were Craft Services.  When the entire shooting budget is only $600 you cut as many corners as you can manage.  So lobster bisque and caviar gave way to sliced fruit and muffins.

Wow muffins!  That is pretty good. We normally end up with just donuts and coffee. Smiley Ok they almost always have a bag of oranges, apples or bananas on the table.

But are they decoration or can you really eat then, Shawn? Talk about starving artists... Wink (Marc would have done better, I am sure...)

It all sounds better than the sweat sock soup and stink bug pudding that we usually have...

(how's that Rikka?)

I was just rummaging around on your site I saw that you and your partner started out with a short live version of this film that won an award at the McMaster Film Festival back in 2003.

Yes.  This is in fact a remake.  The original was half as long and 1/1000,000 as good.  It's pretty much locked in the vault and I doubt anyone will ever see it again.  It's absolutely terrible!

The original It Came from Uranus was our very first film together, though unofficially.  It was a bit of a lark at the time.  We had no idea it would become something so long-lasting and creatively rewarding.

Great project!! It really looks like you're having a great time (even with the "boring" bits?). I usually leave the boring bits to do last as well.

We are having a great time.  It's rife with challenges and problems, but a fun, incredibly educational puppet experience.  I do have to rebuild one character though, which is a bit of a drag.  He was one of my first puppets built for the project and my skills were far weaker than they are now.  He quickly began to fall apart, but I think I have it worked out now.  Always a learning experience.

Wasn't it a bit cramped?
