Now, what would all you folks do as far as covering it? i think the body will be pretty straightforward. my main issue is about the face. whats the best way to get it done? No, I don't have a pattern.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You could check out Daryl's stuff on StiqPuppets. He has a TON of stuff on his YouTube channel including the very instruction you seek. He'll also show you the Henson stitch which is invaluable!

As for material I'd probably go with fleece. If not just make sure you get something with some stretch to it. Makes your job a lot easier.

Non pill fleece is your best option for fabric. Daryl is going to explain draping and darting the fabric over the existing foam piece. If you are a bit leery about doing this with the fleece you could get an old t-shirt which would have about the same stretch and try some of the draping first. Just don't spray glue anything down.  I actually do this to get a pattern of sorts first that I can use to cut out my fleece.

I heartily agree with Shawn's idea about using an old t-shirt to make yourself a pattern. I've only done a little bit of that but found it to work well and I always like to build up my stock of patterns and such for future projects.

Yes, I third the old t-shirt method! I'm not as afraid to make a mistake before I actually cut my fleece.

it'll be fun to see your puppet covered with fabric.
the t-shirt idea is great! i've also used paper towels for making patterns that way.
