Hi Guys!  I've been gone for a long while!  But I've finally had time to build a couple puppets.
I've named them Cheeky Chums.  They have magnets to connect their eyes and wigs.  So, I sell them with two sets - eyes, wig, and shirt for boy; eyes, wig, and shirt for girl.   Smiley
I do have one question...if any of you have some ideas!
I have a magnet in the center of the head, but I want to add something to the wig's edges to help hold it in place. The magnet is very strong, so it does the job alone, but some wig's edges will flip up a little.
I tried small velcro, only on the wig, to see if it would stick to the fleece.  It helped a little...but not much. I can also try industrial velcro, but I'm not sure if it will do the job.
Any other ideas?  Undecided
In these pictures, some of the eyes look slightly unfocused....it really is just the picture!   Huh?

Looking good! I would just sew in some snaps at the base of the head and base of the wig.

Very cool! Snaps are a pretty good idea.  You might also be able to sew in a pieces of elastic that is pulled tight just enough to make the edge snug itself up to the head.

Both are good ideas. I was trying to stay away from putting something on the outside of the head. I have a couple ideas to try too. I'll let you know which I decide to do. Smile
Thanks!

What kind of magnets?  Can you add smaller ones (or a metal piece) inside where the wig edges will be?

That's an idea.  I was using heavy duty ones, so if you add too many, it makes it heavier. ;-)

I like how you got so much form in the faces. Do you glue  down the fleece on the foam, or is it stitched or...how? You must have some heavy duty magnets!

I use Dr. Puppets method of covering a custom face with fleece.  Basically, you stretch the fleece over the formed face, and the seam ends up under the hair.  Then, it is handstitched closed.  I hot glue around the cheeks, nose, etc. and use a small amount of spray adhesive on the other places, so it holds in place to stitch.
Yes, the magnets are powerful!  They are your typical 1/2" round magnet, I think they call them "glass magnets".  And they are very strong!  lol

Awesome ideas. I love letting people customize them.

I also integrate metal bits (such as washers) into my puppets...for example the palm of the hands parts of the face to hold glasses on a puppet.  This makes it easy to have puppets hold props in live productions or situations..I do use earth magnets which are very strong...I just attach them to the items that I need them to hold.  I like this idea as well for making personal puppets good job lovable puppet pals.
