I started making marionettes in april 2012. the first 3 were completely of stuffed fabric. I have 4 others I made from wood and paper pulp. they are in different stages of fine tuning. My latest is a flamenco dancer named Rosa. I so far prefer the vertical control with wire arm extensions. the airplane control left me saying where is my 3rd hand . With the wire arm extensions i could manage all the body parts more easily. my question is where to attach the elbow strings to the vertical control?

I prefer horizontal control to vertical so don't have a lot of experience but I would think you would want the same wire extension only it would go below where your hand grips the control. That is if you wanted to be able to easily trigger the elbow movement. You can also use an extension of the bottom going back. See this (page 6 - fig 5a) - http://cat.nyu.edu/~perlin/courses/spring2006/class-0424/04-c-hmm-puppet-d%5B1%5D.pdf
