TRIPODS AND CROSS BARS.  (Read 5956 times)
« on: February 06, 2015, 05:16:42 pm »

I am wondering if anyone knows of a UK supplier or even overseas who does good sturdy adjustable tripods and cross bars that wont colapse or bend when resting a puppet or two against them like some of the ebay ones I have read about.Working on a limited budget ( once car sold)  Smiley
I can then get out and start hunting for some people to be puppeteers then.
many thankjs

Not entirely sure what you're asking for but two thoughts:

1. PVC piping for stages, you can make your own thing using plenty of free instructions or buy one. Alternatively sites like One Way have stage kits and things out of metal pipes. One Way is closest I can think of to have tripods, but don't know if that's feasible for you shipping wise.
2. Lighting hire/sales companies have tripods and bars... But maybe that's not what you meant.

When our puppet theater did mobile puppet shows...we always had good luck with ON STAGE brand tripods (meant for speakers) They are super sturdy.... then you can take either PVC or actual metal plumbing pipe and create a cross bar... just get the pip wide enough to slip over the tripod head... and put a coupler in the middle so that it can be separated for transport.

Forgot to mention to add "elbows" to either end in order to create the angle to slip over the tripod... but i'm sure you probably figured that...hahaha
