Need help weighing down a cloth marionette body

Hello! I am building a marionette puppet with a body made of cloth and stuffing and such like in the book "The Complete Book of Marionettes" by Mabel and Les Beaton. It says to weigh down parts of the body so that the puppet hangs better.
What can I put inside certain parts of the puppet to weigh it down?
I also am building a marionette made of lots of paper mache as an alternative to wood or something.
The paper mache parts are strong and hollow. But I feel I'll have to weigh down some parts such as the pelvis and feet.
Any ideas of what I could fill these parts with as well?
Help would be greatly appreciated.

Have any old bean bags? Most arts and crafts places have bags of those little white plastic pellets. That works. Get the small clear bags used for jewelry that have the ziplock seals, fill them about half full of fish tank sand or the really small aquarium pebbles, that will work also.

Fishing weights. They work really great. You want to place them in the heal of the foot, the butt and often on the elbows.
