First Attempt For Round Head Puppet!!!! Posted by CalebJns on Feb 13, 2010
Ok, guys and gals...you have officially gotten me hooked!  We have started our 2nd build...we are attempting a round head puppet, with a pattern from bashful puppets...here are a few pics of what we have accomplished so far...keep the fingers crossed! Head is being made from 1" Foam, the lining is silk, mouth board will be cardboard, and the seams are being held by Contact Cement.  Time invested so far...about an hour...working on covering now!  Post those soon!

Looking good so far.
I have only one question:
Why do you put silk inside the head?

Because it makes the puppet feel pretty!   Actually I was kind of wondering the same thing myself.

We were looking at some OLD Videos online (YouTube) and this older lady...can't remember her name, recommended lining the inside to keep sweat out of the foam, and help with preserving the puppet...that and we wanted to try it, and see...no harm, no foul...plus it makes it a little more smoother inside.

I have had people request the head to be lined simply because they did not like the feel of the foam rubbing anywhere on the skin. Great jo! Thanks for sharing.
