I decided to cover the prototype, to use the foam head (and for the tutorial)
I had to take in the ´skin´a little front and back of the neck to take up slack, but since I will be  taking in the neck on the foams on the next one, I just did it on the fly this time.

Then added some features quickly to see if the pear shape still looks pear enough with features on...not sure. What do you think?

 IMGA0002

Then with a temporary body to see what it is  likely to turn out like.

I think if you wanted a more pear shaped look, the neck should just be a tube instead of a smooth transition from head to neck... we'll see how the next foam  head looks

You are right the pear loses it's shape when hair is added. I was thinking the pear shape would look good for a baby with little hair, they have fat cheeks too.

Maybe you just need less hair - a tuft, rather than a full-on wig.

I also wonder if it is the color of fabric the head is covered in. Hmmm.  Still really like the end result and shape of head this pattern makes. Love the video!

Yes, I agree guys. As soon as you put hair and features on you loose the pair shape. I don't know how peary the origonal request was for. Seems to me that any pear shape will do the same even if you exaggerate the shape. The next version I will be pulling the chin under so it does not taper so much to the neck. Yes Shawn, the color of the cloth affects things too, but that is the material I have most of at the moment (except some really nice Antron that Julie sent me     ) nevertheless, I thought it makes a pretty reasonable generic character. This has been good exercise.
