If only because I am in this particular headspace right now: are you a "true creative" if you're having an extended dry spell and/or creative block? Are you a "true creative" if you find stressful situations, enormous deadline pressure, and cameras in your face, to be creatively off-putting?
Some people really do thrive on the deadlines and the rest of that stuff. Just like any profession there are all different types.  I think even someone in a high stress commercial arts position has dry spells. I can be in a "dry spell" and still produce, I am just not as satisfied with the results.  I think that even happens in other types of careers. I think you have to accept that if you want to make a living from your art form, there are going to be days or perhaps months where it is not as satisfying. You have to push through them or you get left behind.

There is more then one type of artist. Those who do it for a living and those who do it for them selves.  Both are just as valid.

Thank you for falling for my trap. https://yourlogicalfallacyis.com/no-true-scotsman

That was indeed the point I was trying to make.

You where asking if you are a "true creative".  I was saying yes both fit the bill.  Not sure I understand your reply. Then again I've only had one cup of coffee.

It's a bit obscure but it's a logical fallacy to say that only a true creeative finds certain things compelling. Like you, i was suggesting that one can be a creative person and not subscribe to the traits mentioned. The page i linked to is hard to understand, but the analogy at the bottom is pretty clear. In puppet terms - to say that the only real puppets  are muppets is a fallacy, because as we all know there are other puppets out there that dont fit the 'muppet' category, but would be considered puppets all the same.

Sigh... I've had a bad couple of days and am suffering from inability to concentrateitis and found the 'real creatives' to get under my skin a bit. I just wanted to poke the bear a little

look at FaceOff. If anything it brings out the most in people.

I can only speak for myself, when I'm in that zone none of those things would even be noticed other than keeping on the timeline.

Looks like they at least have a working title for this show now.   Brian Henson is going to be the lead judge and part of the "reward" is a contract with the Creature Shop. http://www.syfy.com/creatureshop  Hope it actually makes it to air.
