Welcome! Great to see another Aussie about the place. We have a few now, i am over in Melbourne. Let me know if you need any help with Aussie resources, i know a lot about them.

Don't know where in WA you are, but if you haven't been a trip to Spare Parts Puppet Theatre in Perth is well worth your time. I believe they do workshops too.

Hi Na,

Yay! I'm excited to join the club!

Thank you so much I'll definitely take you up on that at some point.

I'm in Perth so I'll have to go check them out, I'm pretty sure I've heard of the Spare Parts Puppet Theatre before I don't know why I haven't been yet. I'll add it to my list of things to do

Welcome to P&S  , its always great to meet people just getting into making puppets, and you will find a wealth of knowledge on here should you need it. your puppets look great from what I have seen in your album, it really looks like you have a natural talent for this!! keep taking pictures as we all love to see what people are making and the process they use too, and we also love to see the people making them too, so please take a picture of yourself with one of your puppets

Hi Jeezbo!

Thank you so much!

I'm already loving being a part of this community everyone is so clever and so friendly :D

I love Bookworm by the way and the third arm you created was very cool!

Hi Viki glad to see a next door neighbor...I am from Norfolk Island and we have no puppets on Norfolk Island until now.

I have just joined this forum as well and am looking forwards to chatting and learning about the art as this forum has everything that you need to know and more.

I would love to see your puppets too and once mine is finished I will be putting mine up on my gallery too.

From one newby to another welcome.

Newby Hi 5!

We're just a hop skip and a jump away!

I'm looking forward to seeing your puppets :D :D

Like the foam mat head.  The eyebrow tufts are very cute.

Thank you so much!
I was really happy with how his little eyebrow tuffs turned out, they give him just enough attitude :D

No problems. I know how hard it is to find out about puppetry here, and it can be a bit daunting. Fortunately there seems to be lots of puppetry in Perth, especially with Spare Parts around. I actually was there in '08 for a puppetry festival, and their venue is fab. It's not just a nice space but their foyer is full of their past work. See pics from bottom of this page upwards (until you hit pics of the museum).

Not sure if it's still like that, but it's a really good idea to take a trip in anyway. If you have a chance to talk to the staff they may be able to put you in touch with other puppeteers or puppet-related events. Even if their shows are more for kids, it's worth seeing what they do as they may present concepts you've never thought of before.
