So far i've been getting my foam from a small fabric shop that's local to me.  They only have the Poly-foam but they do have a bunch of sizes from 1/2" up to 2 or 3" thick.  The problem is they only get the narrower rolls that are 24" wide.  They were charging $2.50 a foot so 24"x12" of 1/2" thick for $2.50

No idea if that's a good bad or highway robbery price but after going to like 30 places looking for foam I was literally foaming at the mouth so I had to get some so I could get started   Some of those weblinks look great that foam by mail place seems to have the poly foam at a really good price and a much wider piece.  Thanks for all of the web links i'll definately pick up a batch of stuff once I run out of what i've got here so far.

Thats a good one Steve Thats a pretty good price for foam retail I buy it by 50 ft rolls and don't get much cheaper than that, except mine comes 30" wide.
Foaming at the mouth, I'll remember that every time I go to cut a piece of foam now.

I guess that's OK as long as you aren't mouthing at the foam - that would be a little hard to swallow...

Hi,  I'm hoping there is a fellow Brit out there who can help with where to find foam sheets for puppet building on the UK internet. I don't want to have to pay shipping and taxes etc. to get it from USA but am unsure what type of foam we can get here. No craft shops locally or on the internet seem to sell it because of fire regulations.

Thank you.

If anyone has good sources for foam (especially those who sell over the Internet) if you can please take a moment to add them to the suppliers section of the foam article on the Puppet Building Wiki - Link Removed.

Thanks!

Julie,
The address you posted is a site that serves up links to other sites.  Do you remember the name of the site you visited?  I did enter "foam"  in the search box and it returned several links one of them being: http://www.foamonline.com/

Here in Canada there is a mattress specialist company called "Foam King". Im not sure if they have locations outside of Alberta or not, but they have all sorts of foam (polyfoam, highdensity insulating foam etc) and will cut it to your specifications...they can even order in scott/reticulated foam!

Araknidkid, would you mind adding their contact information to the Link Removed under suppliers?

Alternately you can just send me the information and I'll be happy to add it.
