Do you have a puppetry-related blog or web site? Posted by Ron G. on Feb 12, 2007
OK... I was going to start a thread on this topic the other day, and include favorite blogs, web sites, and forums which you enjoy visiting that aren't your own - but Shawn coincidentally started a "favorite forums" thread here, which seems to be going over like a lead balloon. So this is the thread where you don't have to worry about hurting Shawn's feelings, and can talk about your own blogs or web sites - and maybe slip in a couple of links to favorite blogs and web sites by other people as well.
Even if you've already posted a link to your blog or web site in the past, or have it in your signature, please go ahead and post it again so that we can have it all in one place. This isn't a competition, so don't worry about "OMG - Puppets and Stuff is the best there's no way I'm even going to mention another blog or web site!" We get it... the people who come here and stick around like this site, but if you only spend your time here then you're like an ostrich with it's head buried in the sand, and really are unaware of everything else that's going on in the wide world of puppetry.
I don't have a blog or web site of my own right now, but to get things started allow me to mention two puppetry communities which have a lot of merit - the Puptcrit email list and the Muppet Central web site and forums...
http://lists.driftline.org/listinfo.cgi/puptcrit-driftline.org
http://muppetcentral.com/
I first joined both of these groups years ago, but don't post on them nearly as much as I do here. I do like Puppets and Stuff a lot, which is why I spend so much time here - but there's a great big world of puppetry out there beyond P&S, and you're cheating yourself if you don't take a look into it once in awhile.
Now... do you have a puppetry-related blog or web site of your own, or a favorite that you'd like to tell us about? Please do us a favor and post a link on this thread. If you post links to other people's blogs or web sites please take a second and tell us why you like them, and why they would worth visiting.

Okay If we must!! LOL
I didn't know Shawn was requesting Blogs, I thought it was focused on Forum type of web sites.
I like (I hope Andrew doesn't mind me adding this instead of him) Puppet Vision Blog.
http://www.puppetvision.blogspot.com/
He brings very interesting info on puppetry stuff on a daily basis. I like that Andrew keeps it up on a daily basis.
Keep it up Andrew!!!

No... you're right, Daryl. Shawn was limiting his thread to other forums - I was the one interested in having a place where people could advertise their own blogs and web sites, and/or favorite blogs, web sites, and forums by other people. Billy has a web site, Shawn has one, Miryana has one - lots of us do. Shawn might even have a list of them somewhere around here already, and I've just forgotten about it.
I really enjoy Andrew's blog a lot too, though to be honest I don't get to it every day - I'm kind of irregular in my Internet usage. I appreciate the fact that he links to other people's blogs and web sites, which really helps me get a broader picture of what's going on in the world of puppetry. I also enjoy Andrew's posts on Puptcrit and Muppet Central, which is where you might run into him when he's not around here.

Some of you may already know my website http://puppet.wikia.com. It is a database and community based on the world and everything about Puppets and Puppetry. Other then here and My Wikia i do visit quite a few puppet blogs. It keeps me up to date about what is going on different projects and tutorials and bloggers and admins have posted. There are so many blogs and websites about puppetry and soo many ones that have some great content.

Thanks Billy - having a link exchange with other members is a great idea! I've spent many hours looking at people's links pages on their sites or blogs, and discovering lots of wonderful new resources. It's a great way to build community, and find out what's available.
In case anyone missed it, here's a link to Billy's main page...

Billy has done a lot for promoting puppetry and puppet building.

PS
I really wanted to mention Rose Sage Barone's Puppetry Home page, too. Before Rose Sage married Nick Barone she built up a wonderful resource called The Puppetry Home Page on her larger site, Sagecraft.com. I don't know if she's kept it up in the last few years, but it's still a great resource and a true labor of love...
