Hallo friends at P&S,
first I want to wish you all a merry christmas!
On this beautiful day I wanted to share some more pictures of the dragon.
He is almost finished but I still struggle with one problem: the wings go up and down but I not enough - they start at the same level as the middle of the dragon till they stand up... but normaly wings go from down under till they are totaly up... so the search still goes on. That's the beauty of puppetbuilding
(the trick is not to get nervous). When the wingproblem is solved I will show his movements on youtube.
Sincerely Johan

That's one very cool looking dragon! I can almost imagine it breathing fire all over your workshop

Very nice dragon.
I have been thinking in the wings. I suppose that you want them to be horizontal when non flying, and go below and up when flying. If I have understood the control of the marionette, I guess if it would be possible to extend the length of the brown strings that go from the edge of the wings to the control rod. I think it would allow the wings to go below the body. And an elastic band could maintain the control rod in the good position to leave the wings horizontal.

I love the dragon. He's so cool. I really admire your marionettes.

I would move those eyelet guides (for the wingtip strings) on the top of the horizontal to below the rod. That would have the effect of lengthening the strings about 3/4 inch. This should allow the wingtips to drop a little lower, without lengthening the strings. (Always try to keep every string at its shortest possible length.)
I would also move the wing strings a little more inward, toward the body of the dragon. This should give the wing tips a little more dip and perhaps a little more "flex" on the outer portion.
