Beautiful work on those dragons (painting, sculpting, stringing).....I can't wait to see them in motion.....I find puppets should be in motion to really capture the whole picture.

Thanks for sharing the whole process of making these puppets.....it has been a rewarding forum-workshop for all and appreciate all the work you have done to take pictures and share your experience with us.

Chris: Don't know yet if they are going to be in a show. Maybe they will be in
a show for kids of 4-6 years old.
It would be a honnor for me if it would be so.

Dan: thx

Billy: These dragons were handpainted.
And a book... don't know if there is a publisher here in Belgium who is
        interrested to publish a book
about these things. But I can say I will have 1 buyer

Daryl: it was a pleasure for me to share my work with you all. The positive response
         one gets for his work
is realy something to go on... Thx for that.

Bhanu: I showed the mom to my kids at school and they looked their eyes out.
Now they all want to become puppetbuilders

Miguel: Thx mate.

PS I'm still working on the dragon son, the little elf princess, the witch,... if you want it I will post pictures of it all.

Back again,

so, I wasn't pleased with the dragon... the only thing he could do was fly.
I embeded the legs, remade the feet, and searched for another way to attach the wings... they moved too much to the front and to the back.
I added some things to the control to make it possible to make him walk... and now he can.
Here some pics.

Don't you just hate a perfectionist  I'm Just kidding with you, I thought he looked just fine before, and agree if the puppet does not look to your satisfaction then it may not perform to your satisfaction either. Great job!

Thx Billy,

you know, I still have to build the third one, and guess... I want him to do something more... I want him to speak - meaning: he should be able to move his mouth. Today I started with this chap.

any idea on how your going to do the mouth as im trying to so the same thing to use in a project for uni. i was thinking about waiting the bottom jaw and using string to go through the head and up to the controller this way the jaw would be open and to close the jaw you pull on the string.

Hi John,

I made a simple drawing of a head: 1 = the front 2 = a hinge  3= the inner mouth   4 = a string through the head.

You will have to make that the inner mouth is heavier than the outsite jaw. Indeed, when pulling the string the mouth opens.
