I always love puppets and marionettes. Now I'm close to puppets, but I love that kind of artistic work. Well done!
Please show us everytime you do a new one. (Will be great if you teach us how to do that kind of professional and welldone marionette)

Ok Marty,
I have been watching the you-tube video of Emily Decola over and over again trying to understand the way everything works. Earlier I have told you I was trying to get in touch with Emily. After 3 months she send me an email asking some photos so she could say what to do. Having done that... I'm still waiting for an answer but in the meantime I found what went wrong... so now his shoulders are moving better.

Yeah, she is a busy lady up in New York. I was able to find her cell phone # on her resume and called her. She was in the middle of a production meeting and said she would call back. She never did and I haven't tried calling her again either. Too much going on.
What she says is true in that marionettes take a lot of trial and error to get them right.
The reason I mentioned Rosser is that she attended an Albrecht Rosser workshop and then went to Germany for classes with him there. Supposedly, the Rosser company is working on a book about his style of construction and the control system they use. I haven't heard from them when the book is due out. Maybe you could look into this from your side of the Atlantic?

Sorry. I've worked with the Czechs and their marionettes. I've had a two weeks long class with two Czech "Puppet Masters" and it took nearly a year for me to figure out that the Czechs seriously over-rate themselves.
I switched to the Rosser controller and substituted fabric, foam, thin plywood, etc.
And I got to hang out with Joe Cashore for a week.
Now I know how to make marionettes.
My marionettes are bettter, lighter and can do much, much more.
The Czech marionettes are very stilted and limited by comparison to German and American marionettes.

Interesting - I've not done much with marionettes, so I really wouldn't have known the difference. What makes the Czech ones stilted?
