I just discovered this thread about the FAO shwarz Muppet Whatnots and felt like adding to it... I have been watching videos on YouTube made by others who have gotten them and was more impressed with them than I initially was. They do - on camera at least - look very much like the "anything" muppets used for Sesame Street and the Muppet Show... so my inner child threw an absolute fit and made me order one. I just got the email confirmation tonight that it shipped, so I will update with pics to illustrate anything I am particularly impressed or disappointed in.

Any other forum members bought one of these? Would be great to see what you did with yours.
I've yet to buy one. What will the lottery numbers be, I wonder...

David they dont ship overseas yet. I think because overseas shipping has become so costly. I just shipped to England via US main and it was over 100 dollars. UPS wanted 180 for the same package.

Ok I bought one (well two actually, one is for my young son's birthday). I'm impressed somewhat but disappointed in a few things.
Impressed because they are pretty sturdily made, feel like they'd last a long time (unless abused), and have pretty decent mobility. The head is not connected to the neck, but has a sleeve that connects to the bottom of the body for good head mobility. They are not, however, as their "official" pics would suggest, made from antron fleece. Rather, it's a very basic light pile type of fleece that shows every seam. They are basically made like a stuffed animal that happens to be a puppet. The heads are stuffed so much in fact that your hand gets sore after manipulating the mouth, which has no comfort characteristics at all. I also noticed that the included control rod (which can be put in either of the puppets hands) has a tendency to just spin around in there; so while you can move the arm about, you can't really control the hand itself that much. The TINY fingers on these things have actual wire inside, but since they are so small, "posing" the fingers seems a moot point.
Overall however, for the money, and the overall strong construction, my complaints don't make me feel like I was taken or gypped. In fact, I really want another one. I made a little video with mine this morning, you can watch it here if you like
Take care!

Well, despite the seem the puppet does look pretty good at least.
Re: Muppet workshop Posted by April Dawne on Mar 14, 2010
Yes they definitely have that classic muppet look, I just wish they had more of a polished look.
