Re: Rhino Beetle Posted by Jon on Oct 14, 2008
Just wanted to update everyone with the progress I've made on the Rhino Beetle.  She's turning out very will and looking much more feminine.  If I can find the time, I hope to have her finished this week.

Wow ! Jon I love the way she is turning out................ I think she will be some pretty beetle when you are done. Better stock up on the bug spray because I think she is going to attract a lot of attention.

I love the lips it really shows that she is a she and not a he.

Good job at covering her and thanks for sharing can't wait to see it finished.

Well it took a lot longer to finish her than I wanted it to.  There were days I said to myself, "I'm going to finish that girl today", and all I got to do was look at her and wish I had the time.  Now I've got to get to work and figure out what kind of accessories she needs to give her the look of a police officer.

I've started outfitting the Rhino beetle with her police officers uniform.  The first item was the hat.  It was kind of a challenge but I happy with the result.  We're still looking for the perfect police badge but other than that it's done.  Now I just have to think of the rest of her outfit.

I really like the lips too.  How did you do those?
Re: Rhino Beetle Posted by Jon on Nov 10, 2008
Yeah the lips are great, they really help to define her as a woman.  I just extended the fabric I used for the inside of the mouth up over the lips and trimmed it to the shape I wanted.  Then I stitched it in to place.  I was intending for the lips to be a tad fuller but ...   Anyway the effect was good enough so I left them as they came out in the first attempt.

Did you hand sew them then?
