I bought the new body pattern few weeks ago. And I havent used it. I was reading the instructions and looking at the patterns. Im not sure what to do with that sleeve thing. Anyone?

I just took look at the top ten and they all look great.  I'm also surprised that more of the puppets from our members didn't make the top ten.  but then again not making the top ten doesn't mean that you didn't make a great puppet.  It just means that the panel of judges could only pick 10.

Well, I voted for Puppetlady, but if more of you were on the top 10 list I would've had a harder time choosing. I can't believe no one else from here got picked, there were some fantastic designs, and IMHO, better than some of what was in the list.

If you entered a puppet.......personally that makes you a winner right away.....I think that finishing and getting things in is a big step many people don't ever get to that stage in the game.  I was surprised as well that more from this group didn't make it in.  I look at the puppets, and one of my thoughts are......they picked a variety of styles to give a variety of methods on making a puppet.  I hope that makes sense?  Anyways I wish all the finalists all the best and can't wait for the result.

I actually entered the contest this year.  Mostly because of the fact that one of the judges was Ed Christie.  I was struck by the quality of puppets entered this year.  In fact, I came across a puppet (and I am still shocked about this) that didn't make the top ten.  Check it out here.

No chen, you not crazy.  That is on awesome puppet.  All I have to say is I'm glad I wasn't one of the judges because from what I've seen, which was all the puppets, it would have been very f=difficult to narrow the field.

I haven't seen the pattern, but is the sleeve you're talking about the lining that passes up through the body of the puppet and is an integral part of the neck that attaches to the head? Does it say anything in the instructions that came with the pattern?

On another note... I am really knocked out by the quality and creativity shown by all of the entries in the contest, and not just the top ten - which are also excellent. I was just expecting to see more of "our" builders in the top ten.

All I have to say is I don't know what the judges where looking at but, I will not be entering into anymore contest with Project Puppet!  There were alot of great puppets, some even getting publicity in there own countries! No disrespect to the builder but Gavzilla top ten are you F#(*!ng kidding me!  This looks like a little buddy buddy club were you hook up the people you know!    there should have not been a top ten they should have taken all the puppets put them online and let the public decide and I'm pretty sure the outcome would have been different!  Because in the end its not what another puppet builder thinks of your puppet, it's the people who would be entertained by the puppet!

And before anyone replies let it be known Im not saying this because my puppet didn't make into the top ten, because I saw other great puppets! But once again GAVZILLA top ten.....top ten!  I know nobody wants to say it but that puppet sucked!

I encourage everyone to not be too hasty in their assumptions of the contest.  I am sure that it was very hard for the judges to make their choices and it may not have been based simply on the final outcome of the puppet. I know that they take into consideration the text and images sent with the puppet along with other things.  While Gavzilla may not be the slickest puppet in the lot he does have quite a bit of character and the story and images for the puppet are excellent.
