Brenda: Yes, we want to see your toes!  I dated a guy with webbed feet, but he never let me see his feet.

I love the webbed hand idea puppetfreak.  If you made the webbed sections in a different colour than the hand, it will show up better, but it would be easier to make it one color.  I'd take the hand pattern and Billy's sketch and use them as a guide to make a webbed hand pattern.  Use the Project Puppet hand pattern (just for scale) and tape it onto a window.  Tape a blank piece of paper over top the pattern and sketch Billy's hand shape over top.  Once you have a pattern you deem acceptable, cut and sew the hand using the outside edges only. Flip right sides out and stuff very lightly or not at all and machine stitch the finger shapes in after tracing them on with a fabric pen for reference.

Billy: Yes that is the general idea I have for it. I may want to add..nvm I'll wait and ley you all find out.

Wisersmom:Of course we all want to see your toes! Silly

Puppetlady: That was my main concern of how I was going to flip the hand outside in without messing up the webbed part.

Yesterday I actually named him: Obey!

BTW it's my mom's Birthday today!

Happy Birthday to your MOM !

You might want to add something like boning to the jointed segments of the hand and toes................ Just look at a duck or frogs feet and the actual toes or fingers stand out while the webbing in between is flat. Am I making myself understandable.................... kind of hard to describe.

Brenda I would like to see the toes to..................... that is if you are willing to share. But keep in mind this is a contest and we can't let to many secrets out or you'll let the cat out of the bag so to speak.

Concensus among neighbor boys is that I make the character I named Dr. Rot in my sketches.  I still have a few details I need to iron out before I start making him.  Funny thing, those kids had some great ideas that made the character appear more like his character is described.  The other puppet I was thinking of making is named Nermal Fudwick, but I can only enter one.  I actually like Nermal better, but he looks too much like a Dr. Suess character and I thought that might work against me since one of the standards judged is originality.
Re: Project Puppet's New Contest Posted by puppetfreak on Oct 02, 2008
That is so cool! But I was wondering if one judgment is originality what are the others?
Re: Project Puppet's New Contest Posted by puppetlady on Oct 02, 2008
This is a quote from www.puppetcontest.com about how the puppets are judged:

"The entries will be judged on technical skill (construction of the puppet), successful character creation (how well the puppet's physical attributes reflect its personality), and general adherence to the Contest's theme."

Looks like originality isn't even in the judging standards.  It states earlier that you can only submit one original puppet.  Maybe I should build Nermal Fudwick!

How is everyone doing on their puppet construction?  I have my body and head built.  Still need to do arms and hands, facial features and mouth.
