Re: Project Puppet's New Contest Posted by puppetbubba on Oct 31, 2008
I just sent in my entry.  This is only my fourth puppet so I don't expect to have a chance at the prize but I wanted to step up to the challenge seeing as I had the Roly Pattern.  My mother always said, you can never win if you don't try!

I posted her bio and photo in the thread Lila the Rockstar.

I would like to say that to me you all are WINNERS and deserve the prize. I'm glad I'm not the judge because it would be just to hard to decide. I have watched some of you grow and improve your puppet skills as you entered this contest. Good Luck to each of you and " May the Puppets and Stuff force be with you "

Thank you Billy.
My puppet building started in january this year. The months before, I was searching some tutorials on the internet. In May I found puppethub.com and then puppetsandstuff.com, after that I´ve been comunicating lots of people all over the world, and learn many things about puppet building.
I want to thank all the people that helped me through all the first building and the first patterns.

The most difficult part for me today, is getting materials, like fake fur and antron fleece. At the moment its not good for me to buy things from other countries, when the Icelandic currency is not so stable.

All I can say is that I am glad I don't have to be a judge!!  All of the puppets you all have made are 'OUT OF THIS WORLD'!!!  Good luck to all of you in the contest!!

You are all winners for participating in the contest and completing your puppet and sending it in.  You all should be so proud of your work and progress that you have all made.  I would love to meet all those aliens some day because their certainly no intelligent life on this planet......

Great job and glad that you all shared your puppets with us....I have my fingers crossed for all of you.

Daryl H

PS  I just finished two alien puppets for a TV series.  I wish I could have entered them but I didn't use the PP patterns I created my own.  So I am as well an experienced alien maker like some of you.

I finished and sent in my entry at 12 midnight my time.  How's that for cutting it close to the deadline?  Reminds me of writing papers in college.  Here's Dr. Dark:

dr darkdr dark and vaderdr dark3dr dark4dr dark7

Here's his bio:

Charles Darken (aka Dr. Dark) has always had a dark side. In graduate school his professors were impressed by his work yet wondered how their jaded student would use his talents in the science field.  After he graduated the world would discover that this aspiring scientist was to become the menace of their quadrant of the galaxy.  He received his nickname, Dr. Dark, after news reporters uncoverd his evil plans to breed and clone hostile bread molds for warfare purposes.  This was the start to his career in twisted science.  He received his grisly appearance when his lab exploded during a police raid.  After his hurried escape in a stolen spacecraft, he mended his own wounds using a sewing kit in the ship's glove compartment.  He now resides on planet Fendor in neutral territory cooking up his next evil plan for exploding bed pans.  His personal hero is Darth Vader.
