New puppet Posted by Bhanu on Oct 02, 2008
Hi,
I completed my new puppet based on the Brazil pattern from Nice Braga's
tutorial. Thanks puppet Brazil -Braga for the free pattern. Of course I could not get the
right type of glue. In India we have something similar but brown in colour
so it shows on cream colour foam...this is my first try & I guess will get a
proper glue for my next puppet.
I am really thrilled that this boy puppet (not yet given any name) has come
out well...any suggestion for a name?
Cheers

Bhanu:
I would love to see your puppet, but it did not show up in your post. Did you load the picture into the gallery first?

Thanks Billy!
Did you do it all in foam Bhanu? Your fingers look good from what I can tell. I had a hard time with the fingers. Good job!

Hello Bhanu
good puppet!
you really make puppet!!
The glue can be more transparent, more yellow, no problem, but the glue can not appear. perhaps scratched with dark pencil along with glue and paint, it spreads (the colored pencil). I will give you a hint: hand, cut twice to hand and glue two parts. the nose glue seamless.
I love Jesus

How about the name Barat or Baju for your puppet? Those are the only Indian names I know.

Hi,
Thanks for all your comments. Billy thanks for fixing the pics.
Braga, your suggestion will be used when I make the next puppet.
I did notice the finger pasting in your video. I should have applied
glue on two separate pieces of hands.
Puppetlady I enjoyed watching all your puppet pics in the gallery.
Brenda & Puppetlady thanks for the name suggestion....I guess I have to wait
to get an apt name to be recognized by all. The puppet was made only with foam &
a costume using some sort of blue fleece/jersey material.
Well, for me these foam puppet making is so exciting and is a big learning process.
I have been telling my students that foam puppets are new in India though more than
50 yrs old in the West & Europe. Such a range of characters being created using foam
plus also lightweight for manipulation.
We have the `Bommalattam' (Tamil Nadu traditional wooden string puppets) one of the heaviest
that weighs 7-8 Kilogram and operated by men.
Cheers
