Blinking eye tutorial online as promised!! Posted by DrPuppet on Oct 26, 2008
Ok all the blinking eye tutorial online the link to the main page is below. Over the next few months I will be doing more mechanical tutorials all of which will be placed in the same location. Different style of eye blinks using half dome solid eye lids and mechanical mouths. So I hope you enjoy it and if you have any difficulties please let me know. I double checked this one and it plays and scrubbs fine. Like the covering head tutorial this one is zipped in multiple downloads all of which have to be downloaded for the full video to be watched. Cheers! and I hope you like it.
Please I would love feed back for those interested and as always ideas for more videos. Doctor head building tutorial coming very soon.

Ooooh... I'm so going to have to purchase this one when I have the time. I'm still trying to learn better methods for blinking eyes.
PS Jay, I've now got membership set up on my site. Blinking eyes is one of my most popular topics, so we could definitely do an exchange somehow with this one

I'd just like something that would work on a human muppet. (See previous thread somewhere here on updating my blinking eyes. I invented a method, but it didn't work for a profile view of the face, and tried the one from Puppeteer's Unite, but wasn't entirely happy with it)

Question...just purchased this tutorial...it's great! Thanks, Jay.
The only thing is...how do you add the mechanism to make them work? I'm new to the blinking eyes, as far as the "professional" ones like these, and I'm not sure how to make them work inside.
Thanks!
Sara

The cable controled version mounts just as I have show in the tutorial but on the inside of the head you just want to secure the cable housing to the side so it does not slide when activated. I am attaching one this weekend it may be easier if I show it. I will video it and send you a link.

Actually, I guess I didn't make myself clear. How do you make the "cable control"? Or whatever you use to "pull, the lever, etc" to make the eyes blink. The tutorial was really clear on the creating of the eyes, but what do you do to make them blink? I've seen different things online, but I've never been able to find a clear way to create the "lever" or whatever.
Thanks!

The cable is just a bicycle cable that was attached tot he eye by a bolt. You can used a bolt or for a dollar you can by the actual bolts used for bicycle breaks. The cable slides in a hole on the screw and then you tighten it. The cable you can by at wal mart or any bike shop.
