Hey Puppeteers!

I know I am resurrecting an old thread. But I am looking for exactly the same thing. If one of you talented folks is up for the challenge, I will pay for a Franklin puppet.
Please let me know!

Chances are the puppet may have been custom made for a television program and the buider may have copyrights attached to it.

I'm not sure anyone here will condone or agree to making a copyrighted puppet for you.

The puppet is a very common style and could be easily made using many different patterns including Na's pattern. I think you should try building it yourself and try and think of a design of your own.

Obviously I do not want to break any copyrights, and until it is proven that it is copyrighted, let's not make any assumptions.

Billy D, you are right, and I will most likely have to build it myself.
The design is extremely simple. I was just hoping that someone in need of a little bit of cash would do it for me.

Copyright works the other way: you can not assume it is NOT copyrighted. Everything is copyrighted immediately, you don't fill in a bunch of forms to get it copyrighted. This text I'm writing is copyrighted by me, simply because I wrote it and copyright is immediate. I do recall on this site that a puppet maker made something similar to a copyrighted (perhaps trademarked) design, and got a cease and desist letter, even though she'd never even seen the similar item before. It's better to avoid copyrighted characters just in case.

... However, Billy is quite right in saying that you could work from a pattern (thanks for the plug Billy) and make it similar to the design.

I too am HIGHLY interested in a Franklyn Bluth puppet. If anyone could contact me on making it I would love to discuss it. Thanks!

Seems like it should be easy enough to contact the maker of the series and inquire about copyright. If it is, then the problem is solved.

I agree with NA.
