Re: How to organize your puppet studio/area...... Posted by puppetlady on Nov 02, 2008
My workspace is in the basement. Although it's a good size, things get out of control quickly. Here is the space both "clean" this summer and "messy" right now:
After being inspired by Stiqman's tidy studio space, I went over to my work area to give it a clean up and re-organization. The task is daunting. I'm about ready to fly Stiqman out to help me do a little revamping.
Stiqman: For your wall puppet rack, do you use the drill mounted circle cutter to insert the elbow joints into the wood then? Do you glue them into the hole?
I love the colour the IKEA cabinet tubs add to your room. It's so playful and fun. A perfect match to your colourful puppets. (I love IKEA.)

You're much more organised than me stiqman....
My workspace is two benches set in a large lounge area at the back of my house - sort of open plan to the kitchen. Currently it's a mess. I keep most of my materials stored in plastic boxes, some of which are in the workspace area, most of which are in my bedroom. Half of my cupboard is materials or old puppets being stored. My bedroom, which is tiny to begin with, also houses my two puppet 'benches' (think tabletop puppetry), which I'm also doubling as desk space.
... I wish I had a whole house just for my puppet stuff, and another one for me to live in!

OK, Here are some of my Stiqman inspired work area changes: More puppet rack area, magnetic tool rack, ruler rack, foam out of sunlight, eyeball drawers as seen in photo below:
Thanks Stiqman. I have more to go, but the west wall looks better. Ironically I had an IKEA kitchen rack mounted on my wall already. I was just using it for a different purpose.

Nice! Congratulation. A good worker must have an organizer place to work.

Thanks everyone for the feedback......
Puppetlady that looks awesome, I am glad that you got some idea's from me. I know not everyone can have a devoted space for such a thing but I hope that others can take inspiration for organizing any space it can help with the flow of creativity.
