thank you for all your support, going to start looking at some basic fleeces for a test run soon.

Are blizzard fleeces polar fleeces?

I would like to say yes that blizzard fleece is polar fleece...................... but fleece comes in different weights , weaves, pill or anti-pill. Some is weather proof meaning it has a agent that allows wetness to not enter the fabric such as polartec fleece.
Most fabric stores that sell blizzard fleece................it is usually a anti-pill fleece and would be suitable for puppet making.

If you shop at JoAnn Fabric's they have two kinds of fleece.  Blizzard/Alpine Fleece and Anti-pill fleece.  You want to get the Anti-pill.  It has a little deeper pile which helps to hid the seams and has a better stretch.  I've worked with both and find the Anti-pill much better to work with.
