Hi and Thanks
Rudy was just a freehand shape based on the expertVillage video tutorial.

Leo uses that Scooter head that's floating around, but the hands are the Project Puppet ones.  The one I'm working on now is a Melonhead.

The materials are whatever is around the house, old t-shirts, plastic bags, car-wash rags, etc.  The hand rods are knitting needles I got for a dollar at the salvation army.  The clothes are the items that my little son outgrows.  The general idea is to use the cheapest materials possible.

Cool video that really defines what I like to do:

Great Job on your puppets and thanks for signing up with P&S.  Welcome.  It great to see what you can make with found objects.  Puppets don't have to be expensive  to be gerat and fun.

Hey - thanks for posting the pictures and welcome to the group!

We don't have many Kiwis here, you might even be our first. I have a good friend in the Auckland area that I spend way too much time with online daily.

I love your puppets, and I'm really glad that you've decided to join us here. Do you have a hard time finding puppet building supplies in New Zealand?* You folks seem pretty isolated down there. Do import tariffs make foreign goods prohibitively expensive? Still... I'd love to be able to go shopping in New Zealand sometime, for the great local stuff that is produced there. Your ice cream and other goodies are legendary.

I'm big on food, as you may be able to tell from my Santa avatar.

*EDITED TO ADD:

OK... I see in your second post that you use found and cheap or secondhand materials - you are a man after my own heart. Good on you, keep up the great work. RG

I love the fact that you use what is on hand. Often I think new puppeteers get stuck on the idea that they need to acquire all these special materials. I am an ardent supporter of using what a person has at hand to make their puppets. Don't get me wrong, I often seek out materials that may not be that easy to get but I don't think it should stop someone from building a puppet if they can't find them.

I really like your choice on the eyes. Great Puppets!

Welcome!!  I have some very good friends who are Kiwis!!  Nice to have you here!  I used to teach in Papua New Guinea so my co-teachers were Aussies and Kiwis. Thanks for sharing your pictures - we learn so much from each other through the pictures!  Again WELCOME
