You folks are really nice
We can get pretty much anything we need here, including various densities of foam and all the other stuff.  There's a big craft store like Micheal's or Hobby Lobby in town, but they call it Spotlight here.  There's a definite mark-up for anything imported, so that's kind of a factor.  I just use what's cheap and easily available because my wife doesn't like it when I spend too much money :P  Besides I change hobbies more often then people change socks, so there it is, lol.

Tell you what though, definitely considering getting some cool fake fur I saw at a shop, hehe.  Maybe when the current projects are done.

By the way, I'm a Texan, just living in NZ for a while.

Oh and Ron, the food here is really great!  If you can get your hands on some Manuka Honey it's pretty awesome.  Manuka is a kind of tree here, it does tasty smoke like mesquite for BBQ.  Not sure what Ice Cream you had but there's a brand called Kapiti which everyone here loves, me included.

Texas - another place with a reputation for great food!

I'm expecting a CARE package from NZ within the next few weeks, including some Kiwi treats. I wish that I could get hokey pokey ice cream shipped to me cheap and still frozen. I've been wanting to try that for awhile.

Are you a printer by trade? I ask because of your user name. It sounds like you've got access to pretty much whatever you need for puppet building, but I still love the low-budget approach of designing your puppets around whatever is available for free or for cheap.

I was a recycler before "Green" became a promotional marketing gimmick.

Ah, Spotlight, how I love thee... Welcome neighbour! I'm an Aussie... so I know exactly what you're talking about. You must get better foams there than here, I never see a variety of foam in Spotlight.

Hokey Pokey....yummmmmm....

Actually I should find a better name, everyone asks if I'm into printing.  It just sounded like a cool name for a mad scientist character.

I love Australia! Lived in Sydney for almost a year.   Oh and Spotlight here just has one density of foam, but there's a company out here somewhere that just produces foam as a specialty.

Here's the latest character, I'm sad it didn't get finished for the deadline, oh well!

Love the alien character.  You did a great job on the fin things.  What did you use for the eyes?  They're a great and different looking solution.

Great Job!.................. One thing about building a puppet you can be a winner year round, with or without a contest. Thank you for sharing.
