Does anyone know of a pattern for this kind of puppet? Posted by lovable puppet pals on Dec 19, 2008
Hi Guys,
Merry Christmas!
Do any of you know of a pattern to make these kinds of puppets? It's also like the No Strings ones. I've always been interested in ones like this that don't have an entire separate piece for the chin.
If no pattern, then maybe just some info and instruction would be nice
Thanks and Merry Christmas!
Sara
Andy Holmes is a very talented puppeteer, if you've never seen him.

Every time Andy Holmes is at I-Fest he is always my favorite performer. This past summer he was the MC as well and always had us laughing!! He is fabulous and a great guy too!!

I haven't seen any patterns out there but I'll think about how you might go about building on over the next few days and get back with you.
I love the chubby cheeked one he's awesome.

Hey, nice puppet (The blacklight monkey puppet). What kind of pattern did you use to built it?

If I had to approach it, I would be carving it out of a chunk of foam as one piece determine the mouth and cut it and then......I would carve most of the foam out of the front of the head inside (face area) and leave an area for around the mouth and to put your fingers in. This would not necessarily be mouth plate type of puppet. Cover the puppet as you would a regular puppet.
I hope this helps you get idea's.

Hmmm...great, thanks!
Thanks, Miguel!... for the monkey puppet (he still needs arms , I used the Ovale pattern from Project Puppet, and then added foam features (lips, cheeks, eyebrows, etc.) before I put on the fabric. And then, of course, I used Dr. Puppet's sewing techniques to put the fabric on, since that pattern does not have an included fabric cover. It is not antron fleece, so you can see the stitching somewhat, but it still hides it mostly.
I am going to be fixing his eyes though...they are looking up too much, and not focused right yet.
He'll be ready for sale by the second week of January.

I've never carved a head from a block of foam so I was more thinking of building a round headed puppet and the adding the cheeks and chin on the covering with fabric.
I thinking it might make a great project.
