Education? Could you do things like that with puppets? I just thought of a funnel web- puppet.... Or great white...
Re: Invisible shadow puppet rods? Posted by Na on Jul 12, 2011
Very possibly. One thing we have in Australia is a touring educational facility - basically a bus without the seats and done up to be like a mini-theatre. The shows are usually about 'stranger danger' and other things, but it includes a giraffe puppet. (I saw it at school some 15 or something years ago, but recently learned that they still operate the show)
Many of the educational ads on TV use large mascot figures if they're designed to appeal to children.
I'm sure there are companies here who tour shows like that, although I'm not aware of anyone specifically. For the most part puppetry companies seem to focus less on safety education and more on environment education (recycling, etc.).

Well, that is a good thing, too. Sorry, my mind uses to work very strange ways- I just had a laugh about a show: "Beware of strange giraffes in Australia"...
Do you do educational programs?

That's ok. Puppetry takes us in weird and wonderful directions!
I don't do any kind of programs: I'm not a performer. (I started off in theatre as a technical person; stage manager, lighting designer, that kind of thing) I am also not affiliated with any company here, so I kind of just do my own thing.

Well, you can check out the videos I have at my Youtube account (see the link next to my profile info), but other than that, no there's no videos of any shows I've worked on or anything.
I haven't done worked on a show since '07 actually, but have worked on heaps in my early 20s (I'm in my late 20s now) but only as a technician.

Well, I've seen your site and you YT vids already. I did ponder a bit on the fish, wondering if I could use a mechanism like that ... But for now I have done away with opening mouths. That is just too much for me right now.
Re: Invisible shadow puppet rods? Posted by Na on Jul 12, 2011
Which fish? (There have been a few...)
Re: Invisible shadow puppet rods? Posted by Rikka on Jul 12, 2011
The one that you have to operate to CLOSE the mouth... ;-)
Re: Invisible shadow puppet rods? Posted by Na on Jul 13, 2011
Ah, there's a couple of fish I've done with mouths, but I think maybe only one of them shown on my site. To be honest, it's pretty badly made - something from university and we didn't really know what we were doing.
