Newbie here Posted by yesterdog on Dec 29, 2008
Hello.  New to the forum and puppets!  Hubby asked me to make him puppets for Christmas and now I'm hooked.  Seems everything I see now I wonder how I can use it in a puppet. I'm dreaming about puppet construction for crying out loud.  Posted my first two in the gallery.  I know they are pretty generic but I have big dreams I just need to learn how to carry them out!  Yesterdog100_1520

Welcome to Puppets and Stuff.  I can see you're off to a very nice start in puppet building.  The two puppets you have posted are very nicely made and have great personality.  It would be great to see them in action.  Any chance you could post a video?

Actually, I like the rabbit. He looks vaguely familiar and has the potential for a fun personality-Steve

Welcome to Puppets and Stuff!  So glade you where able to get your computer problems worked out. (yesterdog emailed me to say they where having problems with changing their profile info)  I see you even got the hang of posting an image in the Gallery then adding it to your post! Did you use an existing pattern for your puppets or did you create the pattern yourself?

Thanks for all the comments.  Such fun! My friends think the rabbit looks a little like the Wii Rabids.  Not intentional but the boys do have the game so maybe the image was lurking in my mind somewhere....
I would love to make a video but havn't a clue.  Once again my kids will have to help me out!
I made the boy puppet with the instructions on the Expert Village video.  I think he's cute but hate how little control I have with the mouth.I also did not like hot glueing the mouth in.    I made the bunny with a free pattern I got from Brazil Puppets but made the head dart wayyyyy bigger and sewed the mouth in.  I also did not like the mouth. My third puppet(picture above) is still in progress.  It is also the Brazil Puppet pattern with an even larger head dart, 1/2 inch foam instead of 1", modified arm hole, and sewn in mouth with foam tubes for thumb and fingers.  I also ran a cord between the eyes inside the head to draw the eyes in.  Love the mouth but not keen on the eyes....I think I'll add nostrils.  Any suggetions ?
