You could try looking at spoons.  Often you can find spoons that are egg shaped.  Dollar stores or drug stores are good places to find them cheaply.

The spoons I've used for eyes most often are the soup spoons, they're not as pointed as regular spoons.  But if you're looking for something bigger look in with the cooking and serving spoons.  Use your imabination of what the bowl of the spoon would look like without a handle.  And don't worry about the color.  If its not the color you want spray paint it with some glossy paint and you're on your way.

I've purchased egg-shaped eyes from www.onewaystreet.com.  They have them in blue, green and brown.

I just reviewed an Oscar the Grouch puppet and I don't believe the eyes I referenced above are what you're searching for.  sorry

I'm trying to get back into the loop of things here due to computer problems over the last eight days. What do you want your eyes to be made of.... plastic, foam. Styrofoam

ideally i'd like them to be plastic...and not super thin like pingpong balls...they dent so easily.

I agree with jon that simple plastic spoons would work. You could you use the plastic ornament holders that are oval or egg shape

You could use styrofoam eggs and cover them with plastidip

You could even mold them from poylmer clay.
