Making clothes Posted by gav on Jan 03, 2009
Hey everyone.
I've been away for a bit.  I'm now back and working on a puppet that I'm about done with.  I wanted to make him a custom lab coat but can't really make clothes very well.  That would open up a whole new area of puppets if I could make my own clothes for my puppets. Does anyone know any good sites that help with basic learning of making simple things like a shirt or pants?  Any help would be appreciated.

Yes and yes.

I made a lab coat for one of my muppets (scroll to the bottom):

And used this book to do it:

Yeah, I love that book
I've made heaps of different costumes with it, from pants and shirts, the lab coat, a girl's dress and a hospital gown.

No worries - if you need more help, let me know. I'm sure I have more notes somewhere of how I made the lab coat. (I don't think the coat tails or the pocket is included in the book... though I can't recall clearly now)
