Another new guy Posted by Siege on Jan 05, 2009
Hi all. My friends call me Siege (short for CJ).
I found this place while searching for information about mask and costume making and boy does the world of puppetry sure look like some fun! I am a lifetime artist, like many of you seem to be, and I did my college work in painting and drawing before moving on to other things and getting a grownup job as a computer tech.
I purchased the Foam Book and I've been reading it and rereading it for a couple weeks now. I think I'm getting ready to finally build my first puppet any day now! I have found some patterns on the internet and bought some materials from Joann's so I think I am running out of excuses.
I just wanted to say hi and that it is nice to find this place. I hope to have pictures of my own work in the gallery soon.

to Puppets and Stuff.  You'll find that this community is very supportive and encouraging and has a wealth of information relavent to puppet building.  For you first puppet, make a sketch of whot you want it to look like and jump in and bould one.  If you've read the foam book you have a pretty good idea of the basics so there's no reason to wait.

Can't wait to see what you come up with.

Good luck on your first puppet. It's a rewarding craft. Especially when you see the look of wonder in the eyes of a child.
