hazzards of finding puppet parts Posted by LJ on Jan 19, 2009
I have to share this story with all of you. My husband and I were in a second hand store a while back and we bought a cheep old toy -a Yano interactive story toy. web.media.mit.edu/~stefanm/yano/pictures/toy.jpg
I thought the eyes would be great for puppet eyes and possibly the hands and feet as well.  Well the other day I did surgery on Yano. I peeled back his vinyl skin and took out his eyes - they are beautiful by the way - and tried to remove his hands and feet with no success so I placed him at the top of the stairs to bring down to my husbands workshop to see if I could have any more luck with removing the hands and feet.  Well later that night I heard a strange noise, my dogs started barking at the stairs.  I didn't think anything of it till a bit later when I opened the door to bring Yano downstairs.  He had "thrown himself" down the stairs and was laying at the bottom of the stairs, his eyeless face gazing up at me. I have to admit it was a bit creepy - my son says I should not leave him alone in the workshop with all the tools!! Makes me think twice about putting those eyes into a puppet!!  Yano was creepy in his normal state I really can't imagine a child thinking it was a cute little toy!!

That's Action Figure, boys don't play with dolls (of course they don't sew either) anyway I'm not sure G.I Joe can be trusted.-Macho Monkey

My family had a horrific experience with those dolls. Believe me it wasn't nice!

Every object that you take to your home, you have to know what it is (Its no to be superticius, but like always, think work in your mind) A lot of the dolls or objects that many people buy and use are offered in satanic sections (Of course for one good reason).

Just know what exactly to taking to your home!

....um,...I sew, what are you telling me???

LJ - There's probably a logical explanation to what happened with your Yano doll.  A the same time the story is kind of creepy.

Sonny - I'm not sure how to take Confused Monkey's post either.  While I certainly sew more frequently now that I build puppets, my mom taught me to sew when I was a kid.

You have to teach your kids everything, even to sew!
Re: hazzards of finding puppet parts Posted by LJ on Jan 21, 2009
I taught my sons how to sew too!!  In fact my oldest son is much better with a sewing machine than I am! My youngest has even mended something for his girlfriend which makes me wonder why his girlfriends mom did not teach her how to use a needle and thread!!

I always tell people that I have more mileage on my sewing machine than my car.
