Carving facial expressions Posted by Na on Jan 20, 2009
Just found this little blog post that features a very cheap book on carving faces; it's an automata (automaton?) site, and there's a few other books mentioned.

I like the fact that it has drawings of the muscles of the face to help us pupeteers build area's up in the face to add details.  I might get this book and see more about it.......once I recover from Xmas.

Thx Na for the link, as you know, I'm keen on learning how to make marionettes. I'm trying to make them with apoxie but is is my wish to carve them totaly in wood. I want to go to Prague to follow some workshops but I have some other plans that have more priority... who not? This book may help me out with some problems.

Thx again, Johan

You think this technique would work good with foam?

Hey Miguel

I think the facial muscles part could be used as a guide to put foam in areas to build characteristics/facial features in the face.   I am not sure but I would like to find out if anyone buys the book and let's us know whether the diagrams could guide us in this area?

Thanks
