Now, I am either, very blind or very stupid, or both, but I can't for the life of me find the search facility to search the forum. Any ideas?

The help guide suggested it appears depending on forum theme of which I am guessing its this pink theme causing it to not appear? in which case, it should be possible. If anyone can help, all I'd like to do is show Recent Activity in threads and not the default posts.

Top right of the screen, where the banner is.  Also, just under the banner of the site there's a link: "View all unread posts". You have to be logged in for that link to appear I think, but it is there. (I'm using the default theme I think, if that helps)

Na has it right!   There is a link when you are logged in that is in your "User Box".  Now the thing is that you can collapse your "User Box".  If you have done this then you need to look for the small icon that looks like this or in the upper right corner.  It should be right under the date and time. Click the icon and it well open up your "User Box" and you'll see that you can view post in different ways.  There is also the search box at the top of the pabe and the small icon well take you to the Advanced search page.
