Gav,
It is possible that the image you where trying to upload was just to large for in file size for the system to handle.  If you think that may be the reason then try reducing the size of the file before you upload it. As the rule the program should return a message if an image is too large but in some cases if the overall system is overwhelmed by the size of the image it may not give you an error message.
I tried to upload the blue boy picture and it was a gif file and would not upload. I had to convert it to a jpeg file. Could this be the reason Shawn.

Good point i'll check on the size.

Billy,
The system should accept jpeg, gif or png files....    I'll need to double check that and see.  It is more likely that the size was a factor with the blue boy gif file and when it was converted to jpeg it was then small enough for the system to handle.  The avatar upload system requires that the file be the right size.  It well not change or convert for you like the Gallery well.

The blue boy .gif file was 225 X 275................. it told me that it could not upload this file, that it needed to be a jpeg file  I just converted it to a jpg file and it uploaded.
