Keep in mind that Antron is sold in the US and Na has to buy it from here and get it to Australia...................... That is a lot of shipping and handling cost added to her original cost. I think considering that is a fair price to pay. I'm glad things worked out for you Na and you were able to get the product back to Australia.

Has anyone heard anything about the development of the new antron substitute?  And how are those with antron(puppet mart, Georgia stage, etc.)holding up as for as inventory goes?

Two things to clear up:

One, Matt no doubt can buy bulk much easier, making things perhaps cheaper for him (bulk orders often get discounts). I, on the other hand, could only afford a small amount. I have no idea what Matt's overheads are, so can't speak on why there is so much of a difference. I only know what the prices are quoted by Georgia Stage, whom Matt would have also bought from.

Secondly, I bought the fleece whilst in America. IF I had shipped from America to Australia, shipping would have cost me about $150 AUD: twice as much as the fabric itself. I actually save people money since I didn't have to pass on much of the shipping costs on to the customer (it was about $15 USD to ship, since I was staying in the same state in America as the manufacturer). I will also add that even with a strong exchange rate, the Aussie dollar is still weaker than the American, and I have to adjust my price accordingly. I am not making a profit from selling the fleece, I'm just breaking even: the point is to offer a useful service to Aussie puppeteers, who have no way of getting the fleece outside of the exorbitant shipping from the US... not to make money. EDITED TO ADD FOR PASSERS-BY: I do not have antron anymore. It's all gone and I will never buy any again because it's too expensive and I won't be using it.

Very much so - that's why I bought it when I had the opportunity. Even buying from Matt's site, I calculated that shipping would be around 120-150% of the cost of buying 5 yards.

International Shipping is Crazy in general. Forms, customs, restrictions, rates....gives me a head ache.
