Hello--I'm trying to make a foam puppet head but am going nuts trying to find exactly what kind of foam to use and where to buy it--help!

I buy my foam in fabric shops, they use to have or at least they can recommend a place

Welcome to Puppets and Stuff. When I first started I wanted to make a puppet so bad I bought one of those foam egg crate mattress. Buy local if you can if not don't be afraid to ask companies to send you samples of the different type foams.

If you have a Joann's Fabrics locally or if you dont, the ship fairly cheap.

Do yourself a favor and sign up to the site. They send me Incredible deals, sales and sometimes a coupon for up to 75% off on mostly any item they sell. I usually use those for my Sculpey modelling clay. Their fabric are always on sale, especially around Holidays.

All they sell at our JoAnn's is the green sheet foam.
Is that what you use, or do you find other kinds available?

My son uses the green because the puppets are covered with fabric anyway, but if you are going to paint the foam you may have to get it elsewhere.
