Shadow puppetry workshop pics Posted by Bhanu on Feb 20, 2009
Dear folks,

I conducted a shadow puppetry theater production with
grade 11-12 students in an International School in Bangalore.
They are into IB curriculum. Some of them opt for theater arts
& learn the process of production. So I was invited to conduct
a workshop last December. Two years ago they did a workshop
on understanding arts session where I taught them glove puppet
making process & manipulation.

I have uploaded some pics taken during the workshop. Here's the link....

Wow! How exciting........................... Looks like you had a good turn out. I would love to attend one of your work shops. I have not explored the World of Shadow Puppetry. To much I want to do and not enough time to do it. Thank You for sharing the wonderful photos

Wow Bhanu, that is so cool - thanks for sharing! Like Billy, I really enjoy shadow puppetry, but have never tried it myself. My wife wanted to get our son into the International Baccalaureate program offered through one of the high schools here, but those kids have to do a LOT of schoolwork - even more than the kids in the honors and advanced placement (university level coursework) programs at our local high schools. That's not his style, he doesn't like to spend hours after school with his nose in textbooks, so we decided not to enroll him in it. It's exciting to know that the IB kids get to enjoy puppetry as part of their curriculum though.

Amazing work!!!! What a different concept in puppetry.

My favorite is the Wolf. Only because I thought I was a real werewolf when I was a 5 yr old child. See what monster movies can do to a child.

Thanks for the great pics!

That is great! I didn't know you have that talent (Shadow puppetry) too. Good to know.

Thanks for all your nice comments....

I am more into application of puppetry for various target group & concepts and use all forms though
I have not done much through marionettes. For the last one year or so I am into muppet style puppets.
Thanks to P&S I am learning a lot about foam puppets.

Its been a wonderful  journey with P&S..hey I have completed one year!!! feel so good.

Cheers

I like the narrator puppet and the other big puppet with "clothing."  The fabric's shadow looks very "ghostly", it's really neat!

wow!  so very inspiring!  I especially love the size of them--I usually have students use their in-class overhead projector but it's difficult for them to work with such small figures..I must try the larger size with them

what kind of lights do you use on your large screens?  such a nice large wash of light...

and did the students use original drawings for their shadow figures?
