Blacklight Stage Posted by robert958 on Feb 22, 2009
Hi, I am new to this Blacklight puppet setup. I was giving this project because I am technical enough to setup one. But my concern is that I dont want a one time off kind of stage. I want it to be portable and easy to setup. I wanna to be reusable. I have planty suggection like sing PVC pipes to build it. I foound out it is clumsy to use and wood is kind off too heavy. I want something that is aluminum and able to fold and collapse. DO you guys have any plan of doing it. Into details.
thank you
thank you

I've used something similar for 'light curtain', which also requires a lot of black for the puppeteers to blend out. We used a bench, which was created with aluminium 'Q-bloc' - basically hollow square-ish tubes cut to size - and plastic joiners. We then cut out a piece of MDF (particle board or something similar) as the bench top and it slots onto the top of the aluminium frame. We painted the wood matte black, and added a curtain out of velveteen with the use of velcro around the top of the frame. It all fits together in a matter of minutes and packs away, and is extremely light; we made it to transport in a small car, as well as be bumped out in less than 15 minutes. I'm sure you could do something similar, perhaps less of a bench design and more of something for your needs.
If not, someone else will come along with another, probably better, suggestion

Welcome tp Puppets and Stuff. Sorry I'm not a expert at working with black light.
Do you want to build this stage yourself and need a set of plans to use for working with aluminum?
Would you prefer a ready made one?
There are a bunch of plans out there while most are for PVC they could be adaptable. If you need those links let me know.
