Broken puppet Posted by gav on Feb 28, 2009
I was updating my picks and noticed one of them was a puppet that became my only problem puppet. I love making puppets that can complement a room in some way.  My first was my flower puppet.  This one was for people who like flowers and would love to put it with there inside flowers.  Then I made my Kenny The Couch Potato puppet.  That one was for me.  I always wanted a lazy  full body puppet with a gut.   One that would ether lay out on the sofa or the recliner. Basically a puppet that doesn't look like he exerts a lot of energy.    Ok now to the latest and the last puppet with an idea like this.  My concept was to make a puppet that would be a monster in a trash can that would eat your fleece scraps. It's for people who make puppets who want a fun puppet in your work area that has a purpose.   His name was Scrap Can Dan.  You would be able to throw your fleece scraps in the top where his head is and be able to get them when you need them through the back lower end.  So everything I did worked great.  I liked how the head and the can came out.  Then the problem came. I for the life of me couldn't  find something good to put on the can for a good trash can look.  I got the stuff that's on the can now and was crushed.  It was a pain to put on in that the materiel didn't play nice with any of the glues I had.  In the end I felt so defeated.  I just took some spare foam and stuck on as handles and called it a day. I think that the puppet is fixable. I just need something to replace the existing stuff that's on there.  I would love something soft and fleece like.  Not sure what would fit.  Anyone have any ideas?

Gav

I fixed the images in your post I hope I got the right ones. I may have got mixed up on Dan who by the way I Love. I think your idea of incorporating puppets into a room or daily activity is great. The fleece scraps idea is fantastic.

Nice job on the puppets......It seems that you like to make piratical puppets so that they can be used for more than one reason.

Thanks for sharing your work with us.....I have a suggestion for the can......I think that you may need to paint or use markers to make a trash can look.  Look at cartoon drawn pictures of a trash can and that will help for you to get the shading right.

I thought of that but now that I put that silver stuff on it's not going to come of nicely.  So I had hoped that  I could find something to replace over the other one. If not I would have to make a new can. =-(
